Course Description: This seminar presented by Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) subject matter experts from Ernst & Young and RSM McGladrey will provide a blue print for implementing a practical ERM program. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) continues to evolve and become a strategic part of any corporate governance foundation. Companies that have embraced ERM have experienced benefits to the organization. But, a successful ERM program implementation cannot be achieved without varying approaches and eliminating hurdles that can be encountered along the way.

Ernst & Young: LaVern Miles, Senior Manager

LaVern Miles: LaVern is a Senior Manager with approximately fifteen years of professional experience in providing business advisory services. She has significant experience in analyzing business risks/issues for designing and implementing solutions to reduce cost, improve operations, and mitigate risk in consideration of strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. LaVern serves as the co-champion for Risk Transformation for the East Central Area leading and assisting engagement teams and clients with the implementation of enterprise risk management to improve risk and control management effectiveness.
Prior to joining the East Central, LaVern served as a member of the Global Risk Transformation team assisting with go-to-market strategies and development and delivery of training. LaVern began her career at Andersen Consulting where she assisting clients with the development and implementation of information systems and process redesign and improvement; and Booz Allen as a member of the Management Consulting Practice where she was instrumental in developing the Business Process Redesign Approach to use on government and environmental engagements.
John Brackett: John is a managing director in the Charlotte office. He has over 18 years of diversified experience and is a leader in our risk advisory consulting practice. Prior to joining RSM McGladrey, John worked in risk consulting for Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young where he gained substantial experience in a wide range of financial, operational, compliance, and process efficiency audits.
Joshua Kettler: Joshua is the Risk Advisory practice leader for the Denver, Kansas City, and Omaha offices of McGladrey. With over ten years of consulting experience, Joshua has provided consulting services to clients in a variety of industries including financial services, manufacturing, energy, transportation, software sales, construction and engineering. Joshua serves on the firm’s national committee for enterprise risk management which focuses on scaling the application ERM projects to meet needs of middle market clients. In addition he has also served as a member of the manufacturing and wholesale distribution committee responsible for developing standardized templates and control libraries used as part of our risk advisory methodology.
Sheri Brillhart: Sheri is a manager in the Charlotte office. She has ten years of diversified experience and focuses on providing risk management services to our clients. Prior to joining RSM McGladrey, Sheri worked for international manufacturing companies such as PPG Industries, Inc. and EnPro Industries, Inc. where she led risk-based financial, compliance and operational audits and oversaw Sarbanes-Oxley testing in Europe, South America, Asia-Pacific and North America. She also has experience in financial analysis and production planning and control.
Time: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Registration starts at 7:30). Lunch from 12:00 to 1:00.
